THE KITS

We have had a lot of fun putting together our choices for Kits for the Knit-a-Long with Tif Neilan.  I am super pleased to have finished the shawl a couple of weeks ago and also spent time swatching different yarns to celebrate Tif's fab design.  Between the seven shops we have 63 kits for your to compare and contrast - have fun choosing your kit.  If you need any help please feel free to drop me a line :- info@emilyfoulds.com

Tif Neilan uses colour, texture and unique stitch patterns to create a beautifully versatile Shawl, a fantastic addition to your wardrobe, and a perfect choice to wear this summer.  We have brought you three different types of Shawl, the Donegal Edit, the Garden Blooms and Summer Delights.  The Jaunty Yarn Kit is probably the nearest to the yarn that Tif used in her original design.  If you are wanting to add cashmere and silk to your shawl, then try the Arranmore Light SK kit, the most luxurious kits we have put together is the Acadia Kit.

Walking in Yorkshire

We are so lucky to leave near the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  Occasionally, very occasionally I get dragged up one of the awe inspiring majestic hills which are scattered throughout the National Park.  Recently David, my husband did the Three Peak Walk, a 26 miles walk which takes in Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent.  Liz, from our in-house hand dye team, has hand dyed some DK Alpaca blend to celebrate these hills.  We have put the hand dyed yarn together with West Yorkshire Spinners Blue Faced Leicester DK yarn.  The two yarns together create a beautiful bouncy and super warm fabric ideal for this Shawl pattern.

Summer in Donegal Edit

I am so lucky !!   As a family we are lucky enough to spend a few weeks a year in County Donegal, Ireland. On my next trip I will be packing my new Break in Tide Shawl which I knitted up in The Fibre Co Donegal Tweed, Arranmore Light.  The yarn is a stunning, a blend of South American Merino, Silk and Cashmere.  The yarn is spun in Kilcar, Country Donegal and comes in a beautiful colour palette.  I have three main colour options which works really well with Tif's design.

Garden Blooms

Summer for many this year will mean spending time with friends and family in the garden.   The Blooms Kit collection uses The Fibre Co Acadia DK yarn.  The yarn is a blend of South American Merino, Silk and Baby Alpaca.  If you have never knitted in Acadia before this is an ideal time to give it a try.   The silk noils in the yarn give an added texture which you will really appreciate.

Summer Delights

Summer is all about colour and light.  Malabrigo yarns from Uruguay is all about colour and texture.  Malabrigo Arroyo DK. is 100% Merino DK.  The yarn creates a warm and bouncy fabric, ideal for this Shawl Pattern.  The colours from the range are stunning and sing us a song of Summer.
