Mix Your Own Colours Tam by Outi Kater

Mix Your Own Colours Tam with a pompom is knitted using two different shades of Shetland Jumper Weight yarn at the same time, giving the knitter an opportunity to create an endless amount of different marled shades. The pattern includes suggestions for three different colour combinations.

Materials

Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight – 100% Real Shetland Wool

Purple tam:

• Yarn A – Shade FC56 Purple: 2 x 25g balls
• Yarn B – Shade 134 Aubergine: 2 x 25g balls

Green tam:

• Yarn A – Shade FC11 Lime: 2 x 25g balls
• Yarn B – Shade 65 Green: 2 x 25g balls

Natural tam:

• Yarn A – Shade 2 Natural: 2 x 25g balls
• Yarn B – Shade 78 Granite: 2 x 25g balls

4mm (UK8/US6) short DPNs, set of five, or a circular needle, 60cm/24in long, or size needed to obtain tension

Waste yarn to mark the beginning of round

Sizing

To fit medium to large adult head 55-60cm/22-24in

Tension

17 sts and 24 rnds = 10cm/4in using 4mm needles over stocking stitch
